D&D: The Adventures of Dunk & Penny

Today was a very special day: I finally lost my Dungeons & Dragons virginity!
With the help of two very special friends, one playing as my faithful Sun God-worshipping Cleric companion Dunk, and the other DMing, I created my character Professor Penny Penflower. She's an incredibly naive Gnome Sorceress, armed with a huge saucepan, augmented walking stick (plus dwarven axe blade) trusty rat familiar Mr. Bino and Giant Fire Beetle, Mr. Sizzles.
I'll hopefully have time in the next few days to draw some of our greatest/funniest feats and fails during chapter one of our adventure. Until then, here are some portraits of the unlikely dynamic duo.

Fan-Art: The Adventure Zone!

I've been really enjoying the Dungeons & Dragons podcast The Adventure Zone, and I thought it was about time I drew some fan-art for it. Here's the kleptomaniac wizard Taako and the latest addition to the cast, Ernest the nitpicker gnome.

It's Goblin Week!

With the new year comes another chance to draw goblins for an entire week! Huzzah for Goblin Week! I'm not sure how many I'll actually be able to draw, but for now here's a nasty-looking, peg-legged, angry goblin bandit.

Card Game Project: Even More Cards!

Hello all! Not much to post about: teaching work has started up again, so most of the week I'm busy doing that. Creative juices have mostly been spent on making more cards (I am now aiming to have 40 cards per type and so have a 100% complete demo set to show people).
Here are some of the latest cards I've designed / printed / laminated.

Fan-Art: Steven Universe's Peridot (as a Crystal Gem)

"Does this mean I'm gonna have to wear a star? Where am I gonna put a star?!"
If you haven't been watching Steven Universe (created by Rebecca Sugar) then this might be a bit of spoiler. Here's some fan-art of Peridot, former villain, now new member of the Crystal Gems (hand-drawn and coloured digitally)
As a side note, I'd really recommend this show to everyone. It has a lovely animation style, superb music and top notch character and world building.
Peridot is my favourite gem, as she represents the fact that even the most narrow-minded, flawed and bigoted person can change for the better, if given patience and guidance. Along with its much-discussed and celebrated treatment of feminist issues, queerness and love in general, I'd say Steven's attitude towards his 'enemies', always trying to see the best in them and making an effort to reach out, is the beating heart of the show.

Card Game Project: The Name of the Game?

Hello all, and welcome to whatever year it was last year, plus one!
It's been a while since I posted here due to various boring and/or stressful things that happened during the holiday period. Despite these irksome happenings, I've still been busy making cards for my game and fine-tuning the rules with help from some good friends who kindly participated in some play-tests.
As of now, the game is almost complete, with the trickiest part (idea and rules) out of the way.
My main problem is the lack of a name. It's very frustrating having an idea that you're really proud of and think has so much potential, but not being able to give it a name.
Ho hum, I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.
I hope.
